We are currently building the prototype for the platform where Elders and Berries can connect and collaborate.

In the meantime meet some of the people in our community!

Meet Noel Stubbs...

He is an experienced bookkeeper who only got in this business at 65. Nine years on, Noel loves working with start-ups and staying up-to-date with legislation, new software and technology like the cloud.

Noel loves the work he does because he can help people and give them a solid foundation from which to build their business or run their organisation. His work allows him to connect with a range of people of all ages that keep him interested, organised and young!

“I’m not going to stop, there’s no way I’m going to join the living dead.”

Why do you do what you do?

I like helping people.

Some people have no idea of how they’re business is really going and the profit and loss statement means nothing to them. So as long as they’ve got a healthy cash flow, they’re not under any pressure.

But those who have a tight cash flow need some guidance on what to do, whether it’s something on the marketing side, or to cut costs or prioritise spending, like knowing what you really have to pay now or could delay.

Why is it important for you to continue to work?

When I turned 65, I decided not to join the living dead. I have a number of mates who retired at 55 and they died from that day. I have nothing in common with them. Some I’d grown up with and we’re still friends but we don’t have anything in common. So there’s no way I was going to stop.

I might be 74 but I don’t feel it and I’m not senile. And my wife works full time and does twice as much work as the young girls. She caught up with someone the other day who thought she was 58 and couldn’t believe how old she was.

How do you feel about retirement?

I’ve got no interest in it. You could belong to a Probis club or something like that, but you’re just dealing with people the same age as you. Through my business I get to deal with a younger, greater cross section of society and that keeps you young.
